Privacy Policy

Overview

MetHere is a local-first iOS app. Your people, venues, and notes are stored on your device. We do not operate a backend for user content. Some data is sent to third-party services for analytics and purchases, and to Apple system services to provide core functionality (maps, iCloud, location, notifications, speech recognition, and Photos).

Information We Collect and Store

Information you enter (stored on your device)

• People details you create (name, position, notes/description, tags, favorite status, dates)
• Venues you create (name, address/label, coordinates, favorites, proximity alert settings)
• Tags and related metadata
• Notification history inside the app

Location data

• Precise location when you capture a venue pin or use place search (if you grant permission)
• Background location if you enable nearby venue alerts (geofencing)
• Venue coordinates and optional timestamps are stored on your device

MetHere does not transmit your precise location coordinates for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Audio / Speech (optional dictation)

If you use dictation, iOS microphone and speech recognition are used to transcribe your speech into text. MetHere does not store audio recordings. Apple’s speech services may process audio to provide transcription.

Photos and Files (optional)

• If you save a share card, the image is saved to your Photos library (if you grant permission)
• If you export or auto-backup, a backup file is written to your device and/or iCloud Drive

Usage & analytics data (Firebase Analytics)

MetHere uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage and improve reliability. We log app usage events (for example: feature usage, errors, counts, toggles).

• Event parameters may include counts, booleans, and internal IDs (for example, a venue ID)
• We do not intentionally send the names, notes, tags, or addresses you enter to analytics

Analytics data may be associated with a device or app instance identifier and is used for product improvement. We do not sell analytics data and do not use it for advertising.

Purchases (RevenueCat + Apple)

MetHere offers in-app purchases and/or subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple and validated with RevenueCat. We receive subscription and entitlement information (for example: Pro/free status), plan name, and renewal/expiration details. We do not receive your full payment details.

RevenueCat and Apple may process device identifiers and transaction identifiers to validate purchases and manage subscription status.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require accounts
• We do not collect your contacts, call logs, or camera data
• We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising
• We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies

How We Use Information

• Provide core app features (people/venue tracking, tags, insights)
• Enable location-based alerts you choose to turn on
• Enable optional backups, exports, and share cards
• Understand app usage and improve features (analytics)
• Process and validate in-app purchases and subscription status

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We only share data as needed to provide the app:

• Firebase Analytics (Google) for usage analytics
• RevenueCat and Apple for purchases and subscription status
• Apple MapKit for place search and map snapshots
• Apple iCloud Drive for backups you choose to export or auto-backup
• Apple system services for location, notifications, speech recognition, and Photos

If you export a backup or share an image, you control where it goes and who receives it.

Data Storage and Retention

• Your people/venue data is stored locally on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
• You can reset the app from Settings to delete all local data
• iCloud backup files remain in your iCloud Drive until you delete them
• Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google’s policies

Your Choices and Controls

• You can disable permissions (location, notifications, microphone, photos) at any time in iOS Settings
• You can reset the app to remove all local data
• You can delete backups from Files/iCloud Drive
• You can request help with deletion of analytics data associated with your device by contacting us

Legal Basis for Processing

We process information based on:

• Your consent (location, notifications, microphone, Photos permissions)
• Contractual necessity (processing and validating purchases and subscription status)
• Legitimate interests (understanding feature usage and improving reliability through analytics)

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate (for example, Google/Firebase, Apple, and RevenueCat). These jurisdictions may have different data protection laws than your region.

Children’s Privacy

MetHere is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page.
